The Easy Piece Collaboratory is a four-day festival and exhibition filled with workshops, discussions, music, wearable art and more. It is a collaboration between Fiberspace, Runa Juhanisdotter and slow creations. All environmentally-conscious textile-lovers are invited to take part. The festival is free of charge!
Thursday December 5th (17-20)
Opening of the exhibition, including a presentation of Easy Piece Collaboratory and the Easy Piece concept by the creator Runa Juhanisdotter together with slow creations at 18.30. Easy Pieces made by different participating artists and makers will be exhibited. The participants include pre-school children from The Cottage (part of Tellusbarn) under the guidance of atelierista Sarah Nilsson, 8-10 year olds from Hallonbergen’s library, Bybaba (Runa Juhanisdotter), slow creations (Petra Holmberg), Leluma Design, Lillemor Larsson-Haga (Ullemor), Lotta Sjöberg, Petter Kallioinen, Miro Burman, Omgjord (Pernilla Ivar), Gunilla Karsson, Sjuhäradsform, Västgötakreatörer in collaboration with Västarvet and Textilmuseet. From Berlin: erie berlin, Bennelle, We Use To Be, Pirate Stitches ft. Lkeks, Freddy Fusseltier Farbenklitsch & á la mode. From Honduras: Lenkat Accesorios. From California, USA: Judi Pettite. Illustrator Marianne Adolfsson will contribute with reflective drawings.
Friday December 6th (12-18)
Open workshop – pieces for a collaborative Easy Piece will be created in different techniques (textile print, embroidery, natural dyeing). Workshop leaders on Friday are Bybaba (Runa Juhanisdotter) and slow creations (Petra Holmgren). All ages welcome!
Saturday December 7th (12-20)
Easy Piece making – sewing together of one or more Easy Pieces, by hand and sewing machine. Embroidery workshop lead by Evahanda (Eva Eriksson). Panel discussion will be held at 15.00; moderated by Marcia Harvey Isaksson, gallery director at Fiberspace; on the topic “Can one garment save the world?”, with the goal of sparking a discussion about the negative impacts of and solutions to fast fashion and open opportunities for slower, more sustainable, ethical and inclusive processes and hence help save the world! The panelists are the project initiator Runa Juhanisdotter, slow creations (Petra Holmberg), fil dr Anna Hedtjärn Wester, museum director at K A Almgren Sidenväveri & Museum as well as author and journalist Gunilla Ander. This will be followed by a walking show where the pieces will be donned by their creators. A delicious vegetable soup will be served to the beats of DJ:a gilbert play.
