Thomas Magnusson

With his pictures, Thomas Magnusson wants to try to reflect the inner and outer world, their expanse and how they can relate to each other. A perambulation between different, strong colours and layers of appendages. The intense yellow, dark blue, red, pink … Threads. One can see it present but not clearly explained. The passage of time and transformation, the changes of the weather and light, the body of the air.

Colour is the first thing Magnusson sees. It possesses a kind of quality of life, feelings and musicality. It can also metaphorically point to different qualities of consciousness.  A colour has a body but lacks actual shape and can spread any which way. It becomes the boundaries of the images that create the shape. The threads or grids have been added as part of this score. One can play Magnusson’s pictures and wander into them with the eye’s mindfulness.

Thomas Magnusson was born in Sunne and has since 1976 being living in Stockholm. His time is shared between his artistic practice and pedagogical activities partly as a lecturer at Beckmans College of Design  and Birkagården Folkhögskola’s Senior Line, both in Stockholm.
