Dye It Yourself workshop

Dye It Yourself workshop

Don’t despair if you missed out on the previous two-day natural dyeing workshop, here is a new opportunity! slow creations, run by Petra Holmberg, will be hosting a short three and a half hour workshop in natural dyeing on Sunday 22 May 2016 between 13-16:30. Welcome to an introduction to the world of natural dyeing! Open to adults and children from 8 years old.

What colours are you wearing? Prior to 1850s, all fabrics were dyed in a natural way. Dyers used plants, earth pigments and animals such as cochineal bugs to dye fabrics and yarns in a way that does not harm the environment as modern dyes often do, a wealth of knowledge that is almost forgotten by us today. Thank goodness, natural dyeing is experiencing a revival.

In this short workshop, you’re invited to create naturally dyed fabric samples with the “bundle dyeing” method with minimal environmental impact as well as opening up conversations on craft, art, fashion, activism and sustainability. Natural dyeing makes room for slow dynamic unpredictable processes, reflecting life itself.

Max 12 participants. Fee: adults 250 kr/person, children free, but need to be registered. Materials included. First come, first serve! Pre-sale only. Buy your ticket here.
