Events on the Surface

“Events on the Surface – Shibori, A knowledge-forming motion” is the title of Thomas Laurien’s doctoral thesis from the Academy of Design and Craft at the University of Gothenburg. His aim is to answer the questions “What is shibori?” and “What does shibori do?”, alternating roles as artist, observer and curator to highlight different aspects of the art form. An interesting read for artlovers in general and fiberlovers specifically, with poignant descriptions of the creative process, personal artistic endeavours and the challenges of artistic collaboration.
