In the beautiful textile historic setting of Almgrens Sidenväveri's attic, our three panelists Ulrika Mårtensson, Akane Moriyama and Malin Zimm presented and discussed their thoughts on textile and architecture. We look forward to more activities around this theme. Watch this space!

Welcome to Marie-Therese Luger who will be interning at Fiberspace during this spring! Marie-Therese is a conceptual artist and curator educated in Linz, Austria and Stockholm. We look forward to a creative collaboration.

We took a field trip to Oslo to check out the vibrant textile scene there. It was a great pleasure to meet John K Raustein, Inger Johanne Rasmussen, Kari Steihaug, Eva Schjølberg and Hanne Friis during this intense two day trip and get an inspiring glimse of their practices as artists. We'll definitely be back for more!

Fiberspace is excited to be launching an online collection of fabulous art, craft and design during the Stockholm Design Week 2017. The Fiberspace collection focuses on accessories for the home and workplace and features the works of material and process-researchers such as Merel Karhof, Christien Meinderstma, Silo Studio, Brave Production, Deepa Panchamia and Studio Brieditis & Evans.

With Christmas around the corner and the harsh Swedish winter upon us, we would make someone's new-home-far-away-from-home a little cozier. And what could be cozier than the quintessential Swedish rag rug. We're setting up a loom in the gallery so we can weave a rag rug or two for some newcomers in need. But we need your help! So please come by and weave a few rows - no previous experience required. Remake Stockholm Stadsmission has generously donated a pile of rugs so all we need is people-power!

Iaspis and the Craft Center are hosting a talk on curating craft. We're thrilled that Marcia has been invited to be part of the discussion panel. One of the questions we will try to answer is whether curators in a gallery or museum setting can create new spaces and contexts that are inclusive and give leeway for different strategies in crafts? Welcome to Iaspis on the 29th of November at 18.00!

Create your own shadow with paper and lights. Mihiro Burman, bookbinder and paper designer, will be leading a workshop at Fiberspace. The workshop is inspired by Japanese origami techniques and the Japanese author Junichiro Tanizaki´s book "In Praise of Shadows" which is written about aesthetics in the dark.

During the workshop, we will fold and cut paper to create own 3D shape with the paper, then experiment to create own shadow with light through the paper form. We'll just use the simplest materials and tools, a few sheets of paper scissors or a knife and our own hands and have a creative experience together. Workshop is open to adults. Even, children from 8 years old are welcome, free of charge, with an adult. They must however be pre-registered.

We would like to introduce our fabulous new intern, fiberlover Vega Määttä Siltberg. Vega graduated with a BA in Textile Design from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design earlier on this year. We look forward to a creative collaboration! Welcome Vega!

"Events on the Surface - Shibori, A knowledge-forming motion" is the title of Thomas Laurien's doctoral thesis from the Academy of Design and Craft at the University of Gothenburg. His aim is to answer the questions "What is shibori?" and "What does shibori do?", alternating roles as artist, observer and curator to highlight different aspects of the art form.

Carl Cyrén's masters degree project from Konstfack Carbon Craft is an experimental design project where he has relocated carbon fibre from the world of super cars and sports equipment to the world of crafts. His focus has been on combining glassblowing and knitting, collaborating with the glass artist Reino Björk, Smart Textiles in Borås and The Glass Factory in Emmaboda. Fiberspace looks forward to his continued research and development of this exciting meeting of materials.
