Fiberspace would like to congratulate Åsa Pärson, Lisa Rydell and Karin Björkquist for winning Svensk Bokkonst's book prize with the following motivation: "Strict concept in everything from choice of materials to design. The embossing on the cover and the open back with visible binding threads gives a visual and tactile understanding of the content's fabric techniques." Well done!

Fiberspace is proud to have received a cultural grant of seventy five thousand crowns from the City of Stockholm! It is a show of support not only for the gallery in particular but for fiber and textile art in general. Since the start in September 2015, Fiberspace has been dedicated to bringing fabulous fiber and textile art to the general public, and with this grant we look forward to widening our reach and continuing to be a forum for artists and fiber-lovers from all over the world.

The exhibition and book launch Fabricate ends on Sunday 17/12. Textile designer and hand weaver Åsa Pärson will be interviewed by Amica Sundström who is curator in charge of the textile collections at the Swedish History Museum (Historiska Museet) as well as a part time teacher at the Stockholm University College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack), where she teaches textile construction and materials. Barbara K Berther's solo exhibition Ayre ends on 2/12. In conversation with gallery director, Marcia Harvey Isaksson, Barbara will share the thoughts and processes behind her incredible body of work, with her two monumental textile pieces "Spert" and the brand new "Ayre" as a backdrop. The talk will be held in Swedish. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are free but space is limited, so first come first serve. Welcome!

Mihiro Burman, bookbinder and paper designer, is opening her two-day pop-up studio at Fiberspace on the 21st of October. She will give a presentation of own origami works "ORIGAMI, geometry, structure and construction for a sheet of paper" as well as lead an origami workshop with a hat theme at Fiberspace.

In the beautiful textile historic setting of Almgrens Sidenväveri's attic, our three panelists Ulrika Mårtensson, Akane Moriyama and Malin Zimm presented and discussed their thoughts on textile and architecture. We look forward to more activities around this theme. Watch this space!
