We took a field trip to Oslo to check out the vibrant textile scene there. It was a great pleasure to meet John K Raustein, Inger Johanne Rasmussen, Kari Steihaug, Eva Schjølberg and Hanne Friis during this intense two day trip and get an inspiring glimse of their practices as artists. We'll definitely be back for more!

Fiberspace is excited to be launching an online collection of fabulous art, craft and design during the Stockholm Design Week 2017. The Fiberspace collection focuses on accessories for the home and workplace and features the works of material and process-researchers such as Merel Karhof, Christien Meinderstma, Silo Studio, Brave Production, Deepa Panchamia and Studio Brieditis & Evans.

With Christmas around the corner and the harsh Swedish winter upon us, we would make someone's new-home-far-away-from-home a little cozier. And what could be cozier than the quintessential Swedish rag rug. We're setting up a loom in the gallery so we can weave a rag rug or two for some newcomers in need. But we need your help! So please come by and weave a few rows - no previous experience required. Remake Stockholm Stadsmission has generously donated a pile of rugs so all we need is people-power!

Iaspis and the Craft Center are hosting a talk on curating craft. We're thrilled that Marcia has been invited to be part of the discussion panel. One of the questions we will try to answer is whether curators in a gallery or museum setting can create new spaces and contexts that are inclusive and give leeway for different strategies in crafts? Welcome to Iaspis on the 29th of November at 18.00!

Create your own shadow with paper and lights. Mihiro Burman, bookbinder and paper designer, will be leading a workshop at Fiberspace. The workshop is inspired by Japanese origami techniques and the Japanese author Junichiro Tanizaki´s book "In Praise of Shadows" which is written about aesthetics in the dark.

During the workshop, we will fold and cut paper to create own 3D shape with the paper, then experiment to create own shadow with light through the paper form. We'll just use the simplest materials and tools, a few sheets of paper scissors or a knife and our own hands and have a creative experience together. Workshop is open to adults. Even, children from 8 years old are welcome, free of charge, with an adult. They must however be pre-registered.

We would like to introduce our fabulous new intern, fiberlover Vega Määttä Siltberg. Vega graduated with a BA in Textile Design from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design earlier on this year. We look forward to a creative collaboration! Welcome Vega!

Don't despair if you missed out on the previous two-day natural dyeing workshop, here is a new opportunity! slow creations, run by Petra Holmberg, will be hosting a short three and a half hour workshop in natural dyeing on Sunday 22 May 2016 between 13-16:30. Welcome to an introduction to the world of natural dyeing! Open to adults and children from 8 years old.

In celebration of Ivano Vitali's exhibition "Campioni", Fiberspace will be hosting a knit and crochet café in the gallery. All fiber-lovers welcome! Bring your knitting! Bring your crocheting! Coffee, tea and cookies will be served. Saturday 12 March, 14:00-16:00.

Fiberspace is proud to have received a cultural grant of sixty thousand crowns from the City of Stockholm! It is a show of support not only for the gallery in particular but for fiber and textile art in general. Since the start in September 2015, Fiberspace has been dedicated to bringing fabulous fiber and textile art to the general public, and with this grant we look forward to widening our reach and continuing to be a forum for artists and fiber-lovers from all over the world.

Lina Sofia Lundin is a textile designer and craft educator. She works with natural dyeing from an organic cycle perspective where ideas and craftsmanship are equally important. In 2014, her book "Naturlig Färgning" was published by Natur & Kultur. She will be leading a natural dyeing weekend workshop in the gallery on 2-3/4, 2016 from 9-17.
